If I’m not mistaken, Buffy cuts her hair short in season 6, so maybe this was a scene post her cutting her hair, but before they did the episode where she gets her hair cut. SMG cut her hair and requested they write it into the show. She wore a wig for the scenes leading up to the haircut.

Kristine Sutherland (Joyce) was informed during the third season that her character would be killed off, which she accepted because she intended to spend time in Europe. She is absent from most of the fourth season because she was traveling.

Giles dies at the hands of Angel. When the battle was brought to Sunnydale, Giles attempted to bring the Mʔ weapon to Buffy but Angel — possessed by Twilight — snapped his neck, killing him instantly.

On June 2, 1997, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) died for the very first time in Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Season One finale “Prophecy Girl.” That’s right, it’s been 20 years since Buffy drowned in a shallow pool of water after being bitten and tossed aside by the fruit punch-mouthed vampire The Master.

I think someone–Spike, or Faith–mention it in late s7 around the time Buffy is kicked out of the house. But she’s actually died 3 times by this point, technically speaking: The Master bites her and she drowns, momentarily, in Prophecy Girl. She sacrifices herself for Dawn in The Gift.

Before Spike died, Buffy finally told Spike that she loved him. This was the first time she had used the words “I love you” in a romantic sense to anyone since Angel. Spike, however, replied that she didn’t love him, but that he was grateful that she had said it.

One couple that did end up together was Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) and are raising their daughter Joyce. At the end of both the comics and the TV series, Buffy ended up with friends with her two romantic interests, vampires Angel and Spike.

Most notably, Riley is one of three long-term romantic interests for series’ heroine Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar). Whedon intended Riley to be the antithesis of Buffy’s boyfriend of the past three seasons, Angel (David Boreanaz), who now headed his own spin-off show.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer began with Buffy falling in love with a vampire with a soul, Angel. In the season four climax “Primeval”, Xander becomes the “heart” in the spell, which conjoins him with Buffy, Willow and Giles to defeat Adam (George Hertzberg), a part-demon, part-human, cyborg monster.
