Confucianism is a philosophy based on mutual respect and kindness toward others. It was developed to bring peace and stability in society. It was founded before the birth of Confucius, developed through his later life and was made popular soon after, during the Han Dynasty.

Confucius taught that rulers had a sacred responsibility to rule virtuously. This meant ruling with self-discipline, attention to the ancient rituals, and putting the welfare and happiness of his subjects first. Ruling in this fashion, Confucius said, set an example of moral goodness for all others to follow.

The two main causes that helped the rise and development of Confucianism was the Han Dynasty and the upper class appearance assosiated with Confucianism. Confucianism caused more peace throughout China, respect towards elders and social superiors, fair leaders of society, and good ethics.

How did Confucianism affect the Han Dynasty? Confucianism encouraged the government to give jobs to educated people rather than nobles. Confucianism valued education, increasing knowledge and inventions. The borders of China were expanded, the government became based on Confucianism, and founded a beaucracy.

The Han Dynasty did benefit from Confucianism. The establishment of a Confucian state has helped Han Wudi rule for 54 years, making him one of the longest rulers in China’s history. Also, before Confucianism, people were given positions whether or not they were competent enough to do the job.

The effect that Han Dynasty’s conquering of Korea had on the religion in the region was the introduction of Confucianism and Buddhism. Confucianism originated from ancient China and the religion’s belie was that human beings are good. The religion believes in justice and moral values.

As more land was colonized, Romans built many roads in the provinces for military and administrative purposes. The Romans built new highways to link conquered cities with Rome and establish them as colonies(Simkin, 2014). This allowed the Romans to map their growing empire, claiming their territories, see Figure 2.
