Students are opposed to standing and reciting the pledge for several different reasons. Some students dislike current events occurring in the United States such as racism, homophobia, and sexism, and not standing for the pledge as a way to silently protest. As students, acceptable forms of protest are limited.

A lot of teachers might curse (in a joking manner) in front of their students in high school. If a teacher was scolding a student by using profane language, then that teacher could be fired for verbal harassment.

Generally, when a student approaches a teacher, a hug is welcome. It is almost never acceptable for the teacher to initiate a hug. With a few exceptions: The teacher can squat and hug young students (if the child initiates the hug) and impropriety is a much lower concern.

Like a male teacher can hug male students and a female to female. It’s normal and teachers do it. I teach at a girl school.
